Seller's Description:
VG+ No Jacket. 8vo. original green cloth with red spine lettering (spine & top edge a trifle sunned, inscrip. & prev. owner's name to FFE, slight rubbing to edges, otherwise very crisp & clean; lacks dustwrapper); pp. xiv (last blank), 322, with 16 colour photographs (tissue-guarded) & 2 maps (1 folding). Heavy item (1.25 kg), additional postage may be required for international delivery. A very good copy. [Neate S133: After ascending Kamet, Smythe continued his travels in the Garhwal Himalaya and Bhyundar Valley]. The cloth binding differs from the standard issue first edition and the margins are less generous resulting in a slightly shorter book, though the paperstock, printing and plates are identical. A distinguishing mark is a flower design on the spine, which does not appear in the more usual state of the first edition. This version was probably intended for distribution in the colonies and Commonwealth, though it does not state as such.
