'Between these two last dates, in 1586, the books had accumulated to such an extent that Rotherham's library must have been quite unable to hold them. A grace was passed to restore the Regius Divinity School (the original Common Library) to its former use, and the room was again adapted to the use of the library at a cost of more than 125.
