This has been accompanied by the urge to overcome differences of perception and to raise the level of political understanding to greater heights. Our shared commitment to democracy, secularism and rule of law and the linkages established through the presence of 1.2 million strong community of Indian origin people, provide a firm foundation for a meaningful development of our relations. There is much that draws the US and India closer together-shared values, mutually-beneficial partnership between growing economies, and above all, vibrant and talented populations, that can interact in every field of human endeavor and make for a truly exciting partnership for the 21st Century.
