Original hardcover cloth binding with bright gilt decoration on front cover; spine slightly to moderately faded with minor fraying to extremities, and slight evidence of label removal to bottom of spine. Protected in archival mylar. Institutional bookplate on front paste-down endpaper, five numerals stamped on bottom of the title page, stamps to top and bottom of closed page edges, and evidence of pocket removal on rear paste-down endpaper. Including the frontis, contains 25 black & white illustrations, engraved by Frank Beard. Americana.
