Excerpt from The True Christian Religion: Containing the Universal Theology of the New Church, Foretold by the Lord in Daniel VII. 13, 14; And in Revelation XXI 1, 2 The Translator has endeavored to express the meaning of the origi nal Latin, as literally and accurately as possible, in plain English but he has not, in all instances, done it to his own satisfaction. The style of the original is, in general, remarkably simple and perspicuous; yet there are some s'entences, and some particular phrases, which seem oh scure and difficult and, although the Translator has endeavored to ren der them faithfully, he is not sure that he has always either apprehended or expressed the true meaning. He hopes, however, that the present translation will be found not only more literal and accurate than the former, but also more simple in its phraseology, and consequently more intelligible to common readers. This is an ex-library book and may have the usual library/used-book markings inside. This book has hardback covers. In poor condition, suitable as a reading copy. No dust jacket. Original cover, a dark brown hardback with gold lettering to the backstrip. The cover was in very poor condition, with a lot of scuffing to the majority of the covers, The backstrip was torn in multiple places. The binding was beginning to loosen, but no pages were missing, and the text was clean throughout. The leaves were beginning to brown with age towards the edges, and the edges of the pageblock were cut.
