Add this copy of Troublesome Helpmate: a History of Misogyny in to cart. $56.41, good condition, Sold by Bonita rated 4.0 out of 5 stars, ships from Hialeah, FL, UNITED STATES, published 1968 by University of Washington Press.
Rogers gives a good and comprehensive literary review of the misogyny inherent in patriarchy, through literature, from it's Greco-Roman and Early Christian roots, up through the centuries until that 1960's. (book was published in 1966 and still, her synopsis is quite relevant today.) She looks at both the individual and cultural (systemic) roots of misogyny and her book is peppered with good examples from literature of every era she writes about.
