I had thoughts qf introducing this performance to the puhlic, hy a di/???rtation of confiderahle length on this jpecies of poetry; hut I forhear to indulge my/???lf any farther in fiech preliminary remrhs, as the anxiety of authors is fl apt to produce, from the rtflefiion, that, however written, they add little or nothing to the ficccgfi of a good poem, and are utterly iwfidfilt to prevent that neglect.
