Excerpt from The Trial of Maurice Margarot: Before the High Court of Justiciary, at Edinburgh, on the 13th and 14th of January, 1794, on an Indictment for Seditious Practices I believe that the Convention will be convinced, that the claufe of the report of the Committee of regulations comprehends the (pirit and inten tion of Citizen Callen'llar's motion, and alfo extends farther, in asmuch as it provides for a number of cafes equally dangerous to liberty, as a Con vention Bill, it will be found alfo, that this bufinefs of calling a meeting of the Convention had better be entrulied to a (cleft Committee, appointed for the particular purpofe of watching every act which may militate againil the rights of the people. And I maintain that the proper place for this motion to appear is among the regulations of the Convention.
