Excerpt from The Thirtieth Annual Report on the Work of the Fabian Society for the Year Ended 31st March, 1913: Presented and Adopted by the Annual Meeting of the Society on 23rd May, 1913; Also the Rules of Society Eighteen meetings have been held during the year, one less than in the previous year. Although many of the lecturers have been people of outstanding eminence, and the subjects selected appear to have been quite as interesting as in former years, the attendance of members has been smaller than for a long time past. Apparently this is due to a decrease of popular interest in the theory of Socialism and its appli cation to politics, a fact indicated by the decrease in the number and amount of subscriptions from London associates who generally join the Society for the purpose of attending lectures. The autumn course dealt with Industrial Unrest - its causes and remedies. In the spring of 1912 the two courses of last year were concluded, whilst in the present year the lectures were unconnected.
