This is the story about a small piece of land, the people who owned it, and the amazing transformation it undertook over a nearly 200 year period of time. Told by one of the most recent residents of the property, the story encounters five major owners, their histories, and their choices with respect to the land. This story is also about a railroad, a museum, a gravesite, the near demise of a town, and the town that never was. The story tells about the pioneers, dreamers, workers, slackers, opportunists and extremists who took control of this land. Most importantly, this story gives a nearly complete accounting of all who lived there and the real stories behind the rumors that still are told today. This is not a book about the people so much as it is about the land those people used. The purpose for this story is to correct the current findings on file regarding this property. The hope is that others who have lived on and worked their land will take the time to tell the story of their land and the many faces that land has seen through the years.
