Slate-blue (4 p.) Deep green (6 p.) Emerald (6 p.) Remarks.--These stamps are another illustration of the necessity for some notice to be taken of watermarks. The colours of the two sets are very unlike, 1859 being soft, warm tints, 1863, on the contrary, cold and glazed in appearance, and these clear differences are emphasized by different watermarks, which clearly show that they were separate issues. 1865.--Same stamps, fresh colours, wmk. cc. and c. perf. Black (1 penny), canary (4 p.), violet (6 p.), orange (1 sh). ST. THOMAS AND PEINCE ISLANDS. 1870.--Crown on solid ground, as cut. "Col. imp. rect. perf. 5 reis. black; 10 reis, yellow; 20 reis, stone; 25 reis, red; 50 reis, green; 100 reis, violet.
