Size: 0x0x0; First ed.; 316 p., clean and unmarked, but former owner's name is written on front end paper in ink the date of "9/14/14" is written after last sentence--probably when reading was completed; beautiful color frontis. by George Gibbs, with caption, "She took the flower from her mouth and struck him gently across the lips with it, and sang: 'E bello e ardito. '" This is a novel about life at the Metropolitan Opera in New York during the Gilded Age. Binding is firm; burgundy-red boards with bright gilt lettering and ornamentation are unfaded and in remarkably good condition despite absence of d.j.; there is light bumping of corners and a whiff of "old book" aroma.
