The Soul of Brazil is a targeted compilation of Maia's highlights during the roughly dozen-year period stretching from the beginning of the '70s into the early '80s. It may be brief at only 13 tracks, but it hits virtually all of the best songs of his peak period, beginning with 1969's "These Are the Songs" and extending to 1983's "Me Dê Motivo."
