Frond cartilaginous, thread-like; spores on branched threads in a globular mass, in stalkless conceptacles; tetraspores immersed in pod-like branchlets. C. erecta, erect. Frond three inches, thread-like, branching; spores in thick spherical conceptacles, tetraspores in egg-shaped pods at the tips of the branches.
