Good. This book is in stock now, in our UK premises. Photos of our books are available on request (the pictures you see on Alibris are NOT our own). Are you outside UK? Then unless you arrange shipping 'Via Alibris' we WILL cancel your order; this is due to the derisory shipping allowance that Alibris make to sellers for overseas orders.
One kind of crazy is the person who hammers away at the same failing effort, over and over. In this book, it is Charles Arrowby. His mind and his actions are what we, today, refer to as OCD. Ms. Murdoch has built the story around this dysfunction. The story makes sharp turns throughout, most unexpected, some awful and some ridiculous. How Murdoch had the patience to attack Arrowby's nuttiness from so many angles, I do not know. Maybe she was nutty, too. Read slowly. Have patience.

A Classic!
Iris Murdock is quite the story teller. She delves into her characters psyche with vigor. I felt like I really got to know her characters; the good, the bad, and the ugly.
