This gentleman, it will be recollected, was severely wounded in an action with the "Admiral Duff." We had not seen each other for fifty-eight years; and the feelings we experienced at meeting, after so long a separation, may be better imagined than described. At the last time I had seen him, he was twenty-four years of age, and I was seventeen. What a change time has made in our appearance! I never before was so forcibly struck with the truth of the observation, that "time makes ravages." I found the mental and bodily faculties of Mr. Little uncommonly perfect. He informed me, that, at the time of our capture, he was placed as prize-master on board of the prize -we had in tow; in which he escaped, and arrived at Boston, and thus was so fortunate as to be saved from a long and painful captivity. He did not, after that event, enter into the naval service; but continued his profession on the ocean, as commander of a merchant ship, till he was forty-one years of age, when he retired from his occupation, and devoted himself to agricultural pursuits, on the farm where he was born, which was originally occupied by his greatgrandfather, then by his grandfather, whom he distinctly remembers, afterwards by his father, and finally by himself. A singular instance of stability and attachment to place for the roving sons of New-England. Mr. Little is remarkably active for a man of his years, his sight and hearing being very good, and, surrounded by agreeable and intelligent children, is in the enjoyment of every blessing necessary to make old age comfortable and happy.
