When the republican party wins the British election, the royal family are deposed and are sent to live in an exclusion zone, where they must survive on welfare and take care of themselves. The humanity Townsend brings to these well known figures in a fish out of water scenario is impressive, and as a result, the narrative is hilarious. If you liked the Adrian Mole series, you will love this book.
