This work discusses the parallels of the creative and therapeutic processes as well as the languages and sensibilities of the artist that contribute to the science of psychoanalysis. There is a significant aspect of psychoanalytic treatment that involves clear, linear, and interpretive work, but linear scientific terminology does not adequately describe the complexity of human relationships, according to this book. Therefore it cannot provide the "holding environment" most conducive to these multifold areas.
