The object of the author in the preparation of this edition has been to provide a thorough elementary trea tise on Dental Medicine and Surgery, which might be a text book for the student and a guide to the more inexperienced practitioner, and he hopes that the mod ifications he has introduced, and the additions he has made, will entitle it to be so considered, at least, until an abler hand shall prepare a better.
