A woman determined to see her daughter married with a proper dowery. An adventurous spirit hidden for 10 years. A man looking for a countess - thinking he has found the perfect woman. What they do not know about each other would fill volumes. He is wrong about her; everything except her beauty. She cares little except to secure her daughter and find a treasure hidden for years. Set upon a final adventure they are tossed together when he refuses to allow her to travel without companion - after all he does not know her past and that she is more than capable. She takes him as a husband on her journey/quest for a matter of convenience. The pact entails that his son will wed her daughter no matter what. Along the way, the past comes up in bit and pieces while journeying to find a lost treasure. Agreeing to become partners - neither is immediately aware that they were each the bane of the other some ten years past. They wed and pact before either knows the others' secret. She finds out first and tries to keep hers througout the journey. There are some minor twists that come in when their children show up errantly and a pack of men show up offering marriage to save Sabrina's reputation as the purest of widows. One has more than marriage on the mind and the story comes to a minor climax when they find her already wed - pretense aside, one of the men tries for the gold with deadly affects. You will have to read what happens when the treasure is located. Good story. I would read another from this author.
