Penguins are also of importance as indicator species of the health of marine systems and feeding studies of most species are being carried out as a result. The Second International Penguin Conference was held in Cowes on Phillip Island in Victoria in August 1992. Delegates from Australia and overseas attended the conference which was hosted by the Phillip Island Penguin Reserve Committee of Management.
