Every Wainwright guide is a masterpiece....
If you are familiar with these excellent walking guides, particularly if you wander the Lake District hills, then the "Outlying Fells" will come as no surprise. It is a companion to the better know set of seven, and like the others was revised by Chris Jesty. This edition is the unrevised version.
Wainwright always intended the books to be walking companions, so they are sized to slip in a pocket. I would recommend the Jesty revisions for carrying with you or, if like me, you can't bear to risk damaging them, then an older, worn set of the original Wainwright books, with out of date routes, will still describe the views when you get there. Slightly battered, unrevised, later edition Wainwright's can be picked up quite cheaply second hand.
