How can one have a complete childhood without a Fred Crump fairy tale? Out of all of his Black fairy tales that I have read, this I think is among the best. It is modern and has a nice plot. The illustrations (as always) are pleasing to the eye and exquisitely detailed. This is a story you can repeatedly read to a child and I am most certain they will never tire of it. I have not been 7 years old for 12 years and I still love to pick up this book and read just to smile. Fred Crump's books will grow on you and you will never forget how wonderful they are, even as you age.
