It is War that rages rampant o'er the world, Unfurling battle flags in crimson dyed, While shrinking men in cannon's mouths are hurled, And cowards low their quivering figures hide. And in its gorgeous train of filmy black, The Spirit brings dark Ignorance abashed, All ready to withstand the foe's attack, Yet helpless, blind on broken mirrors dashed.
