Excerpt: ... ODE III TO THE SHIP IN WHICH VERGIL SAILED TO ATHENS Horace is said to have been forty-seven years old when he composed this beautiful farewell upon the occasion of Vergil's departure for Greece, where he was going to finish the iEneid.
