Near fine. 1st Edition. xiii, 463 pp. and 64 pp. Octavo. Frontis illustration. 2 folded maps. Original blind stamped blue pebbled cloth, gilt image of the arctic medal on front board. Coated yellow endpapers. A very clean, crisp copy with the separately issued sequel bound in the rear. Single page map. Folding facsimile. Arctic Bibl. 2302 and 2303: "history of expeditions to arctic North American waters, 17th-19th centuries, and a review of opinions concerning the Northwest Passage[...]". Very scarce with both the original edition and the sequel in the same matching blue pebbled cloth. The two titles were also issued bound as individual items, which is rarer than as bound together.
