Ardeth Alexander is kidnapped and confined in a cellar together with a vampire, which she must feed reguarly from her wrist. At first Ardeth is shocked and afraid, but soon she and the vampire team up against their abductors. Ardeth knows she will not leave her prison alive, so she lets herself being turned into a vampire. After her dead body is cartet away, she awakens and returns to free her companion. Together they start taking revenge. In the meantime, while looking for her, Ardeth' sister is kidnapped and used as a decoy for the two vampires. Kiss of the vampire is one of my favourite vampire stories. It brings suspense like a good crime story and also has its romantic moments. And, of course, the vampires are not really the bad guys. Note: The Night Inside was re-published later as paperback with the title "Kiss of the Vampire".
