This is a VERY GOOD book about an alternative evolution (What if the dinosaurs hadn`t died out 65m.y.a. by a combination of factors (meteorimpact, changing climate because of changing distribution of continents due to continental shift , increased vulcanism etc..)?).If dinosaurs would have had 65m.y. more to evolve would it have lead to a dinosaurspecies with an intelligence comparable to Homo sapiens? The creatures invented by Dougal Dixon are (unlike those presented in most science-fictionbooks) based on applying the rules of evolutionary science .Dougal Dixon (known from the groundbreaking ``After man`` , Man after man`` and ``The future is wild`` has done a perfect job describing creatures that could have evolved if circumstances had been different 65m.y.a. An eyeopener for those of us who believe that the rise of large(unlike the small ones in dinosaurtimes) mammals and the domination of earth by an intelligent mammal called Homo sapiens was inevitable.
