Textures are sparse but not inexpressive, and the concluding Sonata in F minor for violin and keyboard, BWV 1018, offers a lovely contrast between Christian Tetzlaff's liquid violin tones and the crisp, pointillist piano of Lars Vogt. The whole group of players, which includes Tetzlaff's sister Tanja on cello, is strong, and the slow movement of the Trio Sonata from A Musical Offering, BWV 1079, is exquisite.
