We read this in a book group brought together a few years ago to read her first two books.
We all concur, however, that she needs an editor. Her sentence structure is unnecessarily convoluted for someone for whom English is her native tongue.

Dense, chewy, disjointed
While admittedly more accessible than Ms. Zornberg's earlier books on Genesis and Exodus, The Murmuring Deep is still quite dense. Her writing is disjointed, and her logic is frequently difficult to follow. In particular, she is prone to using extreme adjectives, i.e., situations tend to be 'fraught' or people are in an 'abyss'. It helps to have a psychology background, as much of her analysis relates to this field.
On the plus side, Ms. Zornberg is quite knowledgeable, and does bring lesser known midrashim and psychoanalytic thought to analysis of the relationships within the Bible, and offers much to chew on. The concept of God as author of Torah writing into it the character of God is quite thought provoking.
