This book was great. Makes me want to get "The Dying Game" immediately. I will read more Barton books after this one for sure. She may be a romance writer in some respects - but this one falls into the category with Jackson and Howard books were suspense takes a front seat and romance a second. Exactly the type of book I prefer. If you like her for romance, there is some involved too. This book is a great take off of the prior (Dying Game) but not tied to it so much as the two main characters in this book were side characters in the last. Thus, their story can be read without losing anything of the other or making the other necessary prior reading. This story is about a PI and an FBI agent who team up again to solve a serial murder case. They were specifically brought in by the killer himself. There is no surprise who the killer is as he lets one know early on. But, the book is not about that twist. It is about the clues he gives and the games he plays with the PI and agent that keep the book interesting. The game is straightforward and consequences dire, but it is a great, workable plot. I highly recommend this to any Barton fan - and any suspense lover. I will seek out this writer again and can say a reader will not be disappointed in picking up this book - for more than one read even.
