Disappointing sequel
While not living up to his previous book, "The Monk Downstairs", Farrington continues the delightful story of Mike Christopher. This former monk still has moments when he struggles with his decision to leave monastic life, but he has made a new commitment. He becomes part of a ready-made family when he marries his former landlady, Robin Martin. The relationship with Robin, her daughter and mother brings Mike face-to-face with the challenges of family life ? and death. Farrington brings real humor and compassion to his characters but the story does little to hold your attention.
