THE MONEY GUY ... Bob Farmer gained a national reputation as one of the democratic party's most effective fund-raisers during a 25 year period. Farmer served as the National Treasurer for four presidential campaigns: John Glenn, 1984; Mike Dukakis, 1988; Bill Clinton, 1992 and John Kerry, 2004. He was also elected Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee in 1989 where he served until resigning to work on the Clinton campaign. Although this was written as a memoir for his family, anybody contemplating raising money for a political campaign would be well served to read it. Farmer traces his experiences in the various political campaigns he worked on and devotes a great deal of the book to the lessons he has learned in fund-raising. Farmer, a gay man, also describes the challenges he faced being gay in the political arena. He presently resides in Florida and Pennsylvania with his spouse, Thomas Winston.
