Good. No dust jacket. Cover has some wear and soiling. Some edge soiling. Pencil erasure residue on fep. 288 p. Occasional footnotes. From an on-line posting: "Frank Percy Crozier was born in 1879. He became a mercenary soldier in Africa and Canada. He later joined the Ulster Volunteer Force. In 1914 he joined the Royal Irish Fusiliers with the rank of Captain." After fifteen months he was promoted to the rank of brigadier-general and sent to the Somme. He arrived in November 1916. Crozier admitted he ordered the shooting of sentries who fell asleep while on duty.." Time Magazine, pointed out that Crozier had a successful war: "In 1914 he joined the Royal Irish Fusiliers with the rank of Captain. During the next five years he won the D.S.O., C.M.G., C.B., Croix de Guerre with palm, was mentioned seven times in dispatches, left the War a Brigadier." After the war he served as a commandant of the Black and Tans. Crozier found work for the League of Nations Union. In 1930 he published his First World War memoirs, A Brass Hat in No Man's Land. He became a pacifist and joined the Peace Pledge Union (PPU)."
