Seller's Description:
Near Fine in near fine jacket. Cloth backed boards in dust jacket, near fine, touch of wear. 246 pp. Terrific memoir of the folk revival in New York and the inspiration for the Coen Brothers' "Inside Llewyn Davis."
Not content with being a wonderful singer and picker, Dave van Ronk proved in this memoir that he was a fair-minded but utterly honest historian and a deeply insightful analyst of both music and the Music Biz. While his book is a long way from just being a grab bag of anecdotes, his recollections of Brownie and Sonny, Dylan and, most irreplaceable, of the Reverend Gary Davis, are told in a voice as hoarse and confiding on the page as it was on the stage. This book gives you the Great Folk Scare of the 50s and early 60s from the inside out, and it's as much fun now as it was then.

Great story
The story itself is great and very informative of the music scene in New York City in the 40's and 50's. I was bummed out that the binding of the book fell apart as soon as I started reading the first ten pages...
