Mark Kurzem tells the true story of his fathers boyhood from the dual perspectives of the fathers son in college and a mystery that unravels piece by shocking piece. The story starts out in a gradual pace and rapidly picks up steam. In fact it becomes a case of not being able to help oneself in needing to get to the finish line.
The story is told from a warm, deep understanding but can we truly grasp the consequences of the holocaust? One of the individual stories that make up the horrors are are vividly recounted here in an unusual and deeply meaningful way.
Outstanding and highly recommended.

Awesome Journey
This is one of the best books I have ever read. The author, Mark, uncovers with his father- the mystery of a father's childhood as a young Jewish boy who unwittingly becomes the poster child for the Nazi sympathizers of Latvia. Having immigrated to Australia, the father has kept for 40 years a small briefcase by his side at all times. In it is a few clues to his real identity plus two words his mother whispered to him before she was taken away to be murdered along with his brothers and sister. LIke a thriller and a lst rate mystery, the two uncover the secrets of the fathers past along with all the real warmth, terror and emotionalism only a true story could exhibit. A thriller to the end.
