Of course, there are many and brilliant exceptions to this r???gime; quite frequently at night a grande dame, usually accompanied by a jeune fills, from one of the two exclusive homes, drives away in the family coach, and hardly a night passes that a hansom or a glistening brougham does not dash around the corner at our end of the street and stop before one or another of the dark, fore boding, brownstone fronts.
