Was a hard to find book and expensive on the used book market. This new reprint is great! Read it several times to my family on the way to Florida. helps the area come alive the way Florida was before Disney World, plus the added adventure of feeling you were sailing away as a youth on a sailboat and trying to catch a small alligator for a pet. What boy or girl didn't have such a dream when visiting the ocean and florida.
Robb White is one of my favoriet authors. This is more in tune for youth. other books more adventures for war related thrilers.

A Great Gem
This was one of my favorite books as a child (1974). Written just after World War II, it's a children's tale of escape and adventure.
A brother and sister flee their North Carolina orphanage, determined to find adventure and a life worth living. As is required by the rules of literature, they meet a boy determined to find his own adventure--and to find his father as well, lost during the war. Determinted Boy steals his father's 30' sloop to sail to the Florida Keys to find proof that his father is still alive, with the orphans in tow.
The three children embark on a journey of stealth and intrigue.
$200 is the lowest price I've ever found for a paperback of this novel; I've seen it for sale for as high as $500. When I'm rich I'll buy it and I can't wait to revisit one of the most memorable books of my childhood.
