The Lightning Horse (Empire at Twilight #1) by N.L. Holmes
This is the second book I've read by Holmes and I've got to say this is another great read. Holmes has managed to capture my attention with this book and I can't wait to read the next book of hers.
Tiwatipara, the charioteer, learns from a young age that life isn't fair. He lost his mother due to child-birth and he lost his father due to an accident with the chariot.
Things are getting worse three years after the accident. Tiwatipara is not himself anymore. He's ridden with guilt, blaming himself. Things do turn around for him. The quote I chose for Tiwatipara is: "Well, I'm quitting, too. He can't treat us like that and expect us to do him favors."
I highly recommend this as Crime book. It's got twists and turns throughout.
