Toni is a freshman in high school, who struggles with the fact that her father is back in prison after previously serving 7 years. She is trying to remain positive during this tough time, so she finds other distractions to keep her mind from reality. She meets new friends at her new school and is at the age where she wants to date. Since her mother is strict and is not so fond of her dating boys yet, she finds interest in a guy that is much older than her in her neighborhood. Unfortunately, this friendship that was supposed to be short termed goes on longer than expected and becomes a relationship. Toni now becomes rebellious against her mother and begins to make bad decisions just to be with him. Those bad decisions lead to pregnancy, abuse, deception and even her being homeless. Toni now must face the fact that she is a full-time single mother who still chooses to deal with the father of her child because she isn't strong enough to leave him alone for good. She also must provide for herself and daughter the best way she can. While she is trying to live her life, she will face some hardships with the law, which makes getting hired for a job extremely difficult. Toni will move to a city near her hometown to try and better herself, but realizes that Indiana is just not for her. While living there for several years trying to balance, work, school, her mental health and a toxic relationship, she finally does what is best for her and her child. After taking a few trips and weighing out her options, Toni lands in the city of Dallas, Texas.Now that she is in a city where everything is "bigger and better", she still faces some challenges with life such as dating, maintaing quality friendships and entertaining people that has her best interest. Because she is a go-getter, motivator, hard worker, positive and a praying woman, she refuses to let anyone disturb her peace too long because she has come way too far. She will experience self-love, growth and real happiness after putting herself first and allowing God to control all things that are not in her control.
