As a poet, I'm intrigued by this book's idea of poet as hero. It?s a fable, so its scope is sweeping and its characters lean toward archetype, but that doesn't mean one doesn't feel invested by the end. If it feels redundant or predictable at first, stick it out; it becomes more of a novel. Though its main character is a king, a strong and intriguing female character appears half-way through.
