A separate chapter provides an overview of relevant international instruments, of the law on political funding in the United States, and of European Union rules. The Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, the Electoral Administration Act 2006 and the Companies Act 2006 are all covered. The authors also examine the impact of the Political Parties and Elections Act 2009, which aims to ensure greater transparency regarding political donations and reinforce the arrangements for regulating candidate expenditure.
