Seller's Description:
Dispatched, from the UK, within 48 hours of ordering. Though second-hand, the book is still in very good shape. Minimal signs of usage may include very minor creasing on the cover or on the spine. Grubby book may have mild dirt or some staining, mostly on the edges of pages. Damaged cover. The cover of is slightly damaged for instance a torn or bent corner.
This is the THIRD book on this subject I have read. First was Count Von Luckner's exploits, the second was about the passenger vessel, the KronPrinz Wilhelm.
All THREE of these accounts point out how different the raider campaign was from the submarine warfare. Civilians and captured crews were protected and shown great courtesy. The purpose of the raiders was to interrupt shipping for the allies, especially since Germany at the start of WWI had only few international bases, and even those could be easily put out of action by the allies.
I shall not be surprised to see one day that THIS book has become the basis for a true account in a MOVIE.
