I took this book on a trip to Rome to read on the plane. It started off slow but once into the plot it's hard to put down. Lots of interesting facts about Rome.

Grisham meets Brown. Thoughtful, Riveting Thrill
Tight plotting of Grisham. Cool historical suspense of Brown.
But unlike paper-thin character's this novel (for me) introduced a thoughtful theme: the fragility of history - and how political forces try to rewrite it (think about the Roman Emperors or the Taliban's destruction of the Buddhas in Afghanistan). This is a Dan Brown novel for grown-ups - and it's more than that.
I've never felt the ancient world come alive more than in this thriller.
