I shall now fulfil my engagement, without any other preface than to remind you, that our Lord's expression, 'Lead us not into temptation, ' by no means asserts that the Almighty tempts us, for we are tempted and drawn aside by our own evil inclinations. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (James i. 13, 14.) I will now leave my little history to speak for itself." THE BEAUTIFUL ESTELLE.
