Its solution is linked to a Sixteenth Century nun, who was accused by the Spanish Inquisition of travelling more than 500 times to the New Mexico territories using her power to bilocate (to be in more than two places at the same time). The novel is based on a famous US Southwestern legend that a strange Lady in Blue appeared to the Native Americans, informing them of the arrival of the first conquistadores. The conquistadores initially believed she was the Virgin of Guadalupe - but the truth is far more surprising. . .

As someone who got hooked on historical mystery novels with The DaVinci Code, I bought this after having read the authors other books. I believe this is his first novel. It deals with a reporter and his friend researching a documented historical event (?) that jumps from historical Spain to the American southwest of the time. Note that I am not Catholic, and had not heard of this prior to reading this book, so I have no other knowledge of the events portrayed. It does jump back and forth a bit much for my taste but was an interesting read nonetheless. I did enjoy some of the reference to areas in northwestern Spain as I spent time there whlie in the military.
