This book seems to be the only book available on the very interesting subject of Elena Cornaro Piscopia, the first European woman to receive a doctorate. It is a biographie romancée of a type that one would have thought no longer existed. The author has certainly done her research, but the results are presented in a fanciful, fictionalized style; and the book therefore cannot be actually read, but only skimmed.
