Seller's Description:
BRAND NEW! 12 Pages. On Thanksgiving Night, 1915, Col. William Joseph Simmons and a number of other men ascended Stone Mountain in Georgia to light a cross and reconstitute the Ku Klux Klan since it had been disbanded after Reconstruction. While the focus of the 1866 Klan had been on disorderly Union soldiers and African-Americans, the new Klan quickly broadened its scope to include Jews and Catholics, especially the latter as they opposed Prohibition and the separation of church and state. While the 1915 Klan still stood for White Supremacy, that was not its main focus. It saw the triumph under President Coolidge of higher tariffs, restricted immigration laws and a new nativism. We are glad to offer our patrons this nice reprint of one of the earliest items of the 1915 KKK renaissance. It is offered caveat lector and without either condemnation nor endorsement.
