Stovin, Colonel Sir Frederick, K.C.M.G., entered the army in 1800, and has served at Ferrol, Copenhagen, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Walcheren, Gibraltar, the Peninsular War, and New Orleans. Sir Frederick wears a cross and two clasps for Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Orthes, and Toulouse. Talbot, Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir John, was Senior Lieut. of the Astrea at the capture of the French frigate Gloire in 1795, and obtained in consequence post rank. He subsequently took the Ville de Milan, of 46 guns, and regained her prize the Cleopatra; in 1807 he distinguished himself in an attack on the Turkish squadron in the Dardanelles, and received knighthood in 1812, as well as a gold medal on the occasion of capturing the French ship Rivoli, 80, in the Gulf of Venice, when in command of H. M. S. Victorious, 74. Sir John is third son of the late Baroness Talbot, of Malahide; m. in 1815, Mary Juliana, third dau. of the ninth Lord Arundel, of Wardour, and has several children. Arms--Gu. a lion ramp., within a bordure engr. or. Seat--Rhode House, Lyme Regis, Dorsetshire. Taylor, Lieut.-gen. Sir John, Colonel 80th Foot, (Holland, Egypt, Peninsula, France.) Ens. 1794, Lieut.Gen. 1837. Thackwell, Major-gen. Sir Joseph, served under Sir John Moore in Spain, and fought at Corunna; was in the campaigns of 1813, 1814, and 1815j at the battles of Vittoria, the Pyrenees, Orthes, Toulouse, and Waterloo.
