To have done that would have meant the omission of the very important so-called germinal stage, the stage when, to borrow Ballantyne's phraseology, the child still has a dual existence inside the germ cells of its parents. I have therefore started from this dual ante conceptional stage, and passed in review every phase from that stage onwards until the child itself becomes capable of becoming a parent.
